Rope Rescue was started in January of 2000. It was then and is now the starting point for our new team members. It is our belief that good rope skills are the basis for many of the other rescue disciplines. We currently have 41 members trained to the technician level and another 8 to the operations level. Our team does not maintain an established training center so we often utilize buildings and natural settings in our response area. These setting include areas in the National Parks, Metro Parks, high rise buildings, communication and water towers. Depending on the location our trainings may involve rappelling for a pick-off, slope evacuation, vertical/horizontal basket rescues with an attendant or establishing a highline. We also encourage and have sent many of our members to outside training classes. They include crane and cell tower rescue courses and rope rescue seminars. Our emphasis is always on safety and safe techniques. It is our goal to be prepared for whatever Rope Rescue situation that may arise in our communities.
